Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir retires from international cricket

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday.

“After careful consideration, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. These decisions are never easy but are inevitable,” Amir posted on X.

“I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan Cricket to new heights.”

Amir, who burst onto the scene aged 17, was instrumental in Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy triumphs.

The 32-year-old had earlier announced his international retirement in 2020 but reversed his decision in 2024 to make himself available for the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.
