Pooja Hegde, who is currently seen in Deva, has expressed her desire to explore a variety of genres in her career. While her performance as an investigative journalist in Deva showcased her emotional depth, the actress revealed that she is keen to take on more diverse roles, including action, slice-of-life, and children’s films.
Pooja Hegde wants to play superhero: “I’d love to do something like Captain Marvel”
In a recent interview, Pooja shared her enthusiasm for action films, stating, “I want to do an action film in which I am doing the action. I love interesting characters and interesting dramas.” She also expressed her interest in slice-of-life narratives, adding, “I’d love to do a father-daughter story or a mother-daughter story… I’d love to do something about friendship.” Reflecting on her childhood inspirations, she mentioned her desire to work on a children’s film, saying, “I’d love to do something for children because growing up, I always loved watching Harry Potter and something to do with magic. That’s a genre we really haven’t explored in India so much.”
Pooja also revealed her aspirations to portray a superhero character, drawing inspiration from films like Captain Marvel. She emphasized the importance of strong female representation in cinema, stating, “I feel why do we like to watch movies? Either we find ourselves wanting to be like the hero of the film, or we feel represented by the person playing us and think, ‘This is me, and I am not alone.’ Or we want to be empowered by the people we are watching on screen. It’s important for women out there to have good women characters to look up to. So, there’s a lot I have not done.”
When asked about her journey in the film industry, Pooja reflected, “I mean, I’ve made it far, quite far, but there’s a long way to go in my mind. I don’t think I want to put that pressure in my mind of making it or not.”
