Indian and English cricketers were spotted wearing a green armband during the third ODI between the two sides in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

These green armbands represent BCCI’s initiative to promote organ donation.

“Both teams are wearing green arm bands to support BCCI’s initiative ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives’. The initiative is spearheaded by ICC Chairman Mr Jay Shah,” the BCCI said in a statement.

The armband was also backed by the presence of two organ receivers – Gunjan Umang Dani, who is a lung recipient and Ms. Deepti Vimal Shah, a kidney recipient – who accompanied Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler for the toss.

Earlier, Indian players Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Shami had supported the organ donation initiative in a video posted by BCCI.
