Speaking to the media at his wife Alia Bhatt’s birthday party, Ranbir showered praise on Bhansali, calling him an unparalleled artist who deeply understands characters, emotions, and Indian culture. During the media interaction today, Ranbir Kapoor expressed profound admiration for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s work ethic and artistic vision. “I had worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali 17 years ago. To work with him again, I can say this with so much clarity that I haven’t met a human being who works so hard, who understands characters, emotions, music, Indian culture, Indian value system, as much as Sanjay Leela Bhansali,” Ranbir said.
The actor, who debuted under Bhansali’s direction in the 2007 romantic drama Saawariya, highlighted the filmmaker’s nurturing approach to art, which he believes sets Bhansali apart in the industry. Ranbir’s comments come as he prepares to star alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Love & War, a much-anticipated project slated for release on March 20, 2026.
A Daunting Yet Satisfying Experience on Bhansali’s Set
While Ranbir lauded Bhansali’s brilliance, he also acknowledged the challenges of working with the perfectionist director. “To be on his set is tiring, long; the process can be a little daunting,” he admitted. However, he stated that the effort pays off for actors seeking artistic fulfillment. “Eventually, as an artist, it is so satisfying as he really nurtures art. So, as actors, it has been amazing so far,” Ranbir added.
This isn’t the first time Ranbir has spoken about Bhansali’s rigorous process. During the promotion of Saawariya, he had similarly described the director’s attention to detail as both exhausting and inspiring—a sentiment echoed by other Bhansali collaborators like Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan over the years.
