Delhi Capitals vice captain Jemimah Rodrigues is happy that the Women’s Premier League does not have the IPL’s impact player provision.

Speaking to the media ahead of the final of the third edition of the WPL on Saturday, she said there may be benefits to considering the provision but it won’t help the bowlers.

“They’d (bowlers) be super pissed off. In my opinion, I am not a massive fan of the impact player (rule). I like the rules we already have but we never know what’s going to happen.”

The three editions of the Women’s Premier League thus far have seen incredible performances from international and domestic players alike. All-rounders, in particular, have shone throughout the course of the tournament and have been in demand during auction exercises as well.

“I’d prefer playing this way because this is how we play our international cricket as well and that’s what is going to help us there. It’s unfair to the bowlers when you do so well and have done so much and then towards the end, a proper batter comes in for the opposition.

“We’re okay with whatever happens, but I am not a massive fan of it,” she said.

Delhi Capitals will face the winner of Thursday’s Eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants in the final.
