After making a mark in the JioHotstar web show The Secret Of The Shiledars, actor Gaurav Amlani is currently seen in the sitcom Zyada Mat Udd, which also stars Bhawsheel Singh Sahni, Shehzad Shaikh, Aishwarya Shakhuja, Helly Shah and Vivek Mushran. The show is available on Colors TV channel and JioHotstar since March 8.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Gaurav Amlani revealed that Zyada Mat Udd was earlier supposed to be only a web series. “But after the collaboration of Jio and Hotstar, they liked the concept so much that they felt such a show that connects with the youth should be brought out on television too,” he said.
Sharing more about the show, the actor said, “It is a very fresh backdrop and fresh story. It’s a new world and new space altogether. It’s a sitcom. We have had a sitcom in India after a long time. It’s a beautiful ensemble. The writers have done a great job with the script. They are quite young.”
Amlani also said that the show is on the lines of one of the most celebrated shows worldwide. “I am only saying this to relate and I am not comparing, but I would say that it is something like how FRIENDS would be if it is made in India,” he said. “It’s in the same space and it’s light-hearted. It’s a story of five people who are a flight attendant crew. It has a backdrop of airlines.”
He added, “When was the last time you saw a sitcom on Indian television? We can’t even remember. It’s a very youth based show that can be seen by the family. It has masala for everyone, from north, south, east and west. You can watch any episode from anywhere, just like how we do with FRIENDS. We are praying for this show to do well, so that Indian television gets a new scope in a new direction.”
Zyada Mat Udd is available on Colors every Saturday and Sunday at 11 pm and on JioHotstar.
