Veteran actor and former BJP MP Paresh Rawal recently opened up about turning down a key role in Munna Bhai MBBS, citing filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s arrogant behaviour as the reason. Rawal revealed that he was initially approached to play the role that was eventually made iconic by Boman Irani.

In a candid interview with The Lallantop, Rawal said, “I was supposed to do Munna Bhai. We were discussing remuneration, and in my head, I wanted Rs 15 lakhs. Vidhu also offered the same number, but the way he said ‘I’ll give you 15’ miffed me. I asked for Rs 50 lakhs and decided not to budge from my want, just to not take arrogance from anyone.”
The Hera Pheri actor pointed out that the decision was not about money, but about dignity and mutual respect. “Artistes are built differently. If you place a hand on my shoulder and ask nicely, I will do a film for even one rupee. But if you throw around attitude, I won’t accept a role even if I’m paid in crores,” he asserted.
Rawal further commented on Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s changed attitude over the years, stating, “He is someone who started ignoring the people he started off with, especially after becoming big in his career.” Despite the fallout, Paresh later worked in Sanju, another project backed by Chopra
On the work front, the 69-year-old actor was last seen in The Storyteller and has an exciting slate ahead, including Housefull 5, Bhoot Bangla, Thama, and Hera Pheri 3.
