Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly offered his support to current India head coach Gautam Gambhir, acknowledging Gambhir’s challenging start but commending his dedication and straightforward approach.
Looking ahead to a crucial upcoming series, Ganguly expressed optimism.
“I wish him all the best, he just started a year ago and this will be an important tour, he struggled a bit in Australia, but just like everyone he’ll learn, he’ll also grow and become better.” he told PTI Videos in an exclusive interview.
“I think Gautam is doing a good job,” Ganguly stated.
“He started off a little slow with Australia and losing against New Zealand, but he picked up with the Champions Trophy.”
Ganguly admitted he hasn’t closely observed Gambhir’s strategic workings as a coach but spoke highly of his former teammate’s character. “I have played with him and he was a great guy with a lot of respect for me and the seniors and I see him now he is very passionate about his job,” he remarked.
“He is very straightforward, he sees things, he is very open about what he feels for team, players, people and everything and from outside you feel he is very straightforward person, you get what you see.” he added.
