The actress attended the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where Article 370 was screened. This marked her first public appearance since becoming a mother, where she shared her thoughts on the film and her career journey.
“I’ve always chosen films that stand out in some way, and Article 370 was one of those projects. Aditya and Lokesh supported the film, even when the genre was unconventional and raised some doubts. People questioned whether the audience would connect with the film, especially since it didn’t have songs and was based on a documentary. But we were confident that with a solid script, strong performances, and technical expertise, it would resonate with viewers,” Yami explained.
Speaking about her choice to portray strong female characters, Yami stated that it has been a conscious decision. “Both ways, it’s a conscious decision. I think if you consistently choose such roles, the audience and industry will recognize your versatility. Over time, people realize you can handle a variety of genres, from comedy to political thrillers and drama,” she said.
Yami also reflected on balancing her personal and professional life, noting how her workload has increased in recent years. “In fact, I’m busier than before, but I’m managing to balance both aspects of my life. It’s not an easy task, and it takes time, sacrifices, and support from many people. I’m grateful to be part of the industry at this stage,” she added.
With Article 370, Yami Gautam Dhar continues to make her mark in the film industry, showcasing her range and earning recognition for her impactful performances. The film, after its theatrical release, has also gained continued attention on OTT platforms.
