Abhishek, one after another lauded performances. How do you manage it?
Ha ha. I don’t do it. Someone up there does it. But yes, it has been a time of terrific reviews for a slew of performances. I enjoy acting and I really I don’t have any favourite genre. For me, acting is like life. It’s my therapy, it’s my oxygen. So every time I get to act, no matter whether it’s comedy or drama or action …hero or villain…. whatever … I think I’m just very happy every time I’m on set.

Which is your favourite genre of acting?
It’s very difficult to choose a particular genre. But yes, I have to say that when I when I make people happy, when I make people laugh and when I make people scared with my performances that… really gives me a lot of wicked satisfaction.

For Karan Tejpal’s Stolen you were commended for doing some of the physically toughest scenes ever performed in recent times, including a mob lynching, which left you bruised battered broken
Ha ha sir, you make it sound like torture. But the whole challenge of being an actor is to push boundaries. We shot this mob scene in Pushkar and I am telling you it was nothing close to tough, it was just a lot of fun. Yes, we were tired, sleepless, all that.

Actors often go too far in pursuit of excellence
I agree in Stolen I went a little too far. But it was just a lot of fun. It was like a college gang, just going for adventure. I don’t really have any bad memory. I just remember that I completely trusted all my co-actors in that scene. There were like 30-40 of them and I just told them that you all know what to do. Just don’t break my hand or leg.

Things have changed drastically for you since the past few years
Things have changed surely from last year and it’s like more responsibility now. I finished two solo projects. And now Baaghi Bechare, which will be the directorial debut of Sumit Purohit who wrote Applause Entertainment’s Scam. The film has me and Pratik Gandhi among a bunch of talented actors.

Moving forward, what do you have in store?
Moving forward, the only thing I’m looking forward to is a good script and a greater team. Keeping it simple, focusing on good stories and not bothering with brand value and all that.
