Karan Arjun, the iconic 1995 action-drama directed by Rakesh Roshan, is all set for a grand re-release in theaters on November 22 this year. The movie, which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in unforgettable roles, has remained a beloved classic in Bollywood. In a recent exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan opened up about the he special voiceover provided by his son, Hrithik Roshan, for the new trailer of Karan Arjun.
EXCLUSIVE: Rakesh Roshan opens up on Hrithik Roshan’s special voiceover for Karan Arjun re-release trailer; says, “Whenever an idea came to my mind, I would discuss it with Hrithik”
Rakesh Roshan expressed his excitement and pride over Hrithik’s involvement in the trailer, calling it a special family moment. He said, “Somebody else have dubbed it and we are making a scratch. So I made the trailer send it to Hrithik and his first line was ‘Woww’.” He said, ‘Can I do the voice over.’ I said we would love to. So now there are three people in the film Shah Rukh Salman and Hrithik.”
Hrithik Roshan, who was involved in the project as a young assistant, has since evolved into one of Bollywood’s leading stars. Rakesh Roshan praised his son’s contribution and said, “Whenever an idea came to my mind, I would discuss it with him. Even though he was very young, around 14 or 15, I used to share the story with him, and he would respond, ‘Yes, Papa, this is good.”
He further added, “When I made King Uncle, Subhash Ghai saw the film and told me, ‘The picture is good, but why don’t you make a big film?’ I asked him, ‘What do you mean by a big film?’ He replied, ‘Make a bigger picture, yaar. Are you stuck with small ones?’ So, I started thinking about what kind of big films I should make, maybe ones with a large star cast. While I was thinking like this, Hrithik said, ‘Papa, remember the time you narrated something to me? That gave me an idea.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, okay. This can happen. This can work.”
With the trailer now featuring Hrithik’s voice, Karan Arjun is set to make a strong impact when it re-releases in theaters, giving fans a chance to experience this classic in a new way. The re-release promises a fresh take while preserving the essence that made it a hit.
