The album, released under Sony Music India, is composed by Salvage Audio Collective with a track (“Jhoom Zara”) by RUUH & JOH. The album includes vocals by Lisa Mishra, Shreya Bhattacharya, Pratika Prabhune, RUUH, JOH, Romy, Divya Lewis, and Aria Nanji. The music album for Waack Girls blends Hindi, Punjabi, English, and subtle Bengali influences. It features a variety of tracks, from dance numbers to ballads, crafted to evoke different emotions. The lyrics reflect the characters’ journeys of self-discovery, resilience, and the pursuit of their dreams. The music’s rhythms and hooks aim to energize, representing the energy and passion of the waacking community.
Talking about the influences for the album, Salvage Audio Collective shared, “For Waack Girls, we wanted the music to mirror the energy and vibrancy of waacking itself. Drawing inspiration from the story, the incredible dancers, and collaborating closely with director Sooni Taraporevala, our goal was to craft a contemporary, high-energy sound that pays homage to classic disco while capturing the emotional core of the show. Working alongside talented artists, lyricists, and singers has been an incredible journey—together, we’ve created a soundtrack that brings the spirit of waacking to life. Their voices and styles infuse the music with depth and vibrancy, perfectly complementing the show’s aesthetic. We can’t wait for audiences to experience this celebration of sound through Prime Video.”
Singer Lisa Mishra said, “‘Chaap Debe Na’ and the other tracks have a special rhythm that I believe will touch listeners’ hearts, inviting them to lose themselves in the beats and give in to the joy of dance. The journeys of the dancers in Waack Girls resonate deeply with me—they mirror the struggles of every artist striving to carve their own path. These songs are incredibly close to my heart, and I hope they strike a chord with listeners too. We’re confident they’ll find these tracks refreshing and playlist-worthy. Each song stands as a tribute to the distinctive flair and spirit of the waacking community.”
“Waack Girls is a celebration of the unwavering passion of dancers who are determined to overcome all odds for their love for dance. Our goal was to craft a track for a romantic interlude that echoed the feelings of the characters. Collaborating once again with Prime Video was nothing short of exciting, especially for a series like Waack Girls that cast a spotlight on artists who leave no stone unturned to pursue their passions,” noted the sibling-duo RUUH and JOH.
