Akshay Kumar has been one of the biggest stars of Bollywood for over three decades. He has entertained the audience while acting in films of different genres in this period. However, the actor has been going through a rough patch at the box office for a couple of years.

EXCLUSIVE: Manoj Desai on Akshay Kumar’s box office woes, “He needs to make better choices!”

Manoj Desai, the Executive Director of G7 Multiplex and Maratha Mandir theatre, spoke about what the actor needs to do to bounce back while having an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama. “Ab usko sudhar jana chahiye,” said Desai. “Bohat gadbad ki hain unhone. He will feel bad hearing this because he watches all my interviews.”

Some time back, it was announced that Akshay will be reuniting with veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan for the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla. Answering whether the film will work at the box office, Desai said, “It depends on the content. Mehmood and RD Burman did one Bhoot Bangla (1965). My mind was blown by it. It was a black and white movie. We were in college. We had seen the film twice. So, the point is that it all depends on the type of content in this Bhooth Bangla. If the content is zabardast, Akshay Kumar will turn out to be a winner. That is for sure.”

The genre of horror-comedy has turned out to be gold in this year after the success of Munjya, Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
