Following the success of Gadar 2, director Anil Sharma is set to explore a thought-provoking narrative with his upcoming film Vanvaas. Starring Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma, the film offers a modern interpretation of the Ramayana.
Nana Patekar opens up on Vanvaas: “The story of Vanvaas is the story of every home”
The trailer for Vanvaas was recently released, sparking significant excitement among audiences. Known for films like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Sharma directs, writes, and produces this heartfelt drama set to explore themes of family, sacrifice, and the bonds that transcend blood ties.
In an interview, Nana Patekar who plays the lead in the film, talked about the movie Vanvaas. The legendary actor said, “Whenever I go to watch a film, especially during school days, if I identify with the characters on screen, then the film feels personal. It feels like the story belongs to us. This is the kind of film Vanvaas is.”
He added, “The identification will be so strong that it feels like the story of every home. When I first heard the story, it resonated with me deeply. As a normal person, it pleased me. I loved it. There’s nothing extraordinary, just the need to remember our own past experiences and bring them to life.”
Director Anil Sharma has asserted that Vanvaas is a deeply personal project for him, as it delves into themes of love, sacrifice, and the complexities of family relationships. In interviews, he emphasized that the film’s exploration of these emotions was central to his storytelling approach.
The director said, “This film reflects emotions that we often keep buried deep inside ourselves. It’s not just a story but a journey to understanding the essence of family, honor, and belonging. Nana Patekar, Utkarsh, Simrat, and Rajpal Yadav have brought unmatched depth and authenticity to their roles. I’m excited for the audience to witness their performances on the big screen.”
Written, produced, and directed by Anil Sharma, Vanvaas will be released in theaters on December 20, 2024. The Zee Studios Worldwide release stars Nana Patekar, Utkarsh Sharma, and Simratt Kaur in the lead.
