West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin was acquired by Gujarat Giants for Rs. 1.70 crore in the WPL 2025 mini auction in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Dottin, who was one of only three players under the Rs 50 lakh price slab, was the first player to be sold in the mini auction.
Dottin was signed for Rs 60 lakh by Gujarat Giants before the inaugural WPL season. However, the franchise released her days before the first edition began in 2023, a development that stirred controversy.
Dottin became the first woman to score a century in the shortest format of the game when the right-handed batter hit a 38-ball ton against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2010. It is still the fastest T20I century by a woman.
She was a member of the West Indian squad that won the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2016. Overall, she has played 143 ODIs and 132 T20Is for the national side in which she has scored a total of 6544 runs. With her right-arm medium pace, she has taken 139 international wickets with the white ball.
