South Africa’s Corbin Bosch registered the highest score by a debutant batting at No. 9 during the first Test against Pakistan at Centurion on Friday.
He struck an unbeaten 93-ball 81 to guide South Africa to 301 and helped his team take a sizeable 90-run lead. Bosch’s 47-run partnership for the last wicket with Dane Paterson was instrumental in the Proteas assuming a significant advantage in the game.
Earlier, Paterson and Bosch had wrecked Pakistan’s batting by picking nine wickets between them. While Paterson nabbed his second consecutive five-wicket haul in Tests, debutant Bosch made a mark by becoming only the fifth South African to take a wicket with the first delivery of his career in the longest format.
