South Africa secured its first ever World Test Championship (WTC) final berth after beating Pakistan by two wickets at Centurion on Sunday.
Chasing a 148-run target, the Proteas held their nerve to eke out a nervy win after losing eight wickets for 99 runs.
Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada stitched an unbeaten 51-run partnership for the ninth wicket to see their team home. Meanwhile, Pakistan slipped to the eighth position in the WTC standings after the defeat, falling below Bangladesh.
South Africa’s qualification for the WTC final leaves India and Australia in a two-way fight for the one remaining spot.
