Devajit Saikia, the incumbent joint-secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed his nomination for the secretary’s post, which has been lying vacant since December last year after Jay Shah moved to the International Cricket Council (ICC) as its chair.

As reported by  Sportstar earlier, Chhattisgarh’s Prabhtej Singh Bhatia is set to succeed Ashish Shelar as the treasurer after he was the lone applicant for the position. Both Saikia and Bhatia are set to be elected unopposed during the BCCI’s Special General Meeting in Mumbai on January 12.

However, with Saikia set to move to the position of secretary, the Board will have to elect a new joint secretary to fill in his position.

Meanwhile, Arun Dhumal and Dhanraj Nathwani will represent the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and Gujarat Cricket Association respectively at the SGM.

There were initial speculations that Anil Patel, the secretary of the GCA and a known name in cricket administration, could be considered for one of the positions. However, the speculations have now been put to rest as Nathwani’s name features as the GCA representative in the SGM, as per the draft electoral poll issued by the electoral officer AK Jyoti.

The draft electoral list did not feature any representatives from the Cricket Association of Bengal even though the association recommended Snehasish Ganguly as its representative after the deadline got over.
