The Hindi version of the acclaimed Malayalam film Footage (2024) will be released nationwide on March 7. A few days before the release, a five-minute footage of Footage was shown to media persons in Mumbai by its team – actors Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair, Gayathri Ashok, co-writer Shabna Mohammed and director Saiju Sreedharan and director-editor-producer-co writer Saiju Sreedharan. Anurag Kashyap, who presented Footage in Malayalam and is now helping it release in Hindi, also made his presence felt and stole the show with his quotes.

On coming aboard as a presenter, Anurag smiled and said, “I tell people, ‘If you think you can use me in a better way, please do’. It should be able to help the filmmaker’s next or the next indie film.”

He spoke highly of Manju Warrier, “We share the same birthday. My mother’s name is also Manju. I had reached out to her as I was auditioning for Sacred Games. For Amruta Subhash’s role, we were trying to get her, an actor from a different industry.”

Manju Warrier added, “But I failed in the audition!” Anurag clarified, “No, you didn’t. Netflix then didn’t have an India office. Everything was going to the US. Those were the days when the OTT platforms were not looking at South films at all. Hence, they wanted an actress to be picked up from a place where their market is. Hence, it was limited to Maharashtra or the Hindi belt. Apart from her, we also considered Nayanthara.”

Anurag continued, “Manju is a stronger person. She has no palpitations while driving a car. I can’t drive a car as I get scared! She also rides bikes well.”

Manju Warrier revealed, “I had picked him up from Kochi airport to Kottayam. It was pouring that day and there were road diversions.” Anurag raised laughs as he stated, “That’s when I realized that her driving skills were very good. Meanwhile, my sitting-next-to-the-driver skills are very good!”

He also said, “My long collaborator is Rajeev Ravi. He is married to Geethu Mohandas. He is my ex; he abandoned me for a woman! He’s my connection to Malayalam cinema. Geethu is more like my sister. She likes to take charge of my life. She dictates everything. I am so happy that she got busy with Toxic. Since two years, I have had the time of my life without her dictating!”

Toxic stars Yash of KGF fame along with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Akshay Oberoi. It is all set to release this year.
