Actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, who made her acting debut in 2022 with Dharmatic Entertainment’s film Guilty, co-starring Kiara Advani and Gurfateh Pirzada, became reminiscent about the Netflix thriller drama as it completed 5 years on March 6. The film had received an overwhelming response after releasing on digital platform as it earned praise from audiences and critics alike for its sensitive portrayal of a complex subject.

Meanwhile, Ranjan played the role of Tanu Kumar, a rebellious girl from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, which the actress revealed, was a stark departure from her real-life personality. In fact, the actress underwent quite a bit of prep including learning the dialect to add authenticity to her character. As the film completed five years this year, Akansha Ranjan reflected on her experience of shooting the film and shared, “Honestly, Guilty is the best thing that happened to me. It changed so much for me. Even today, I get work based on my performance in that film. The energy on set was unmatched—something I’ve never felt on any other project of mine because, for so many of us, it was our first! Everyone gave it their all, and I’m so happy it paid off.”
She further recalled the camaraderie on set, saying, “It honestly felt like a school trip. Everyone was so connected yet unattached to the results or anything outside of the set. We just wanted to do our best and have a great time—which, in my opinion, is the best way to make a movie.” Speaking of the film, featuring an extensive cast, it followed the story of a songwriter whose boyfriend is accused of rape during the era of #MeToo.
Beyond Guilty, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor was also been seen in a key role in Monica, O My Darling. Up next, she is set to headline Gram Chikitsalaya, an upcoming Amazon Prime Video series, where she plays the leading role.
