The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season is nearing the end with the the eliminator and the final set to take place at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Giants (GG) finished as the top three teams. The Capitals and MI are in the playoff bracket for the third season in a row while the Giants will make a maiden knockouts appearance.
Ahead of the last two matches of the WPL season, here is a look at the three teams and their journeys to the Playoffs.
Delhi Capitals
The Capitals have set the bar for consistency in the league with a third straight direct final berth. With five wins in eight league games (as many as Mumbai Indians), Delhi topped the table by virtue of a superior Net Run Rate.
After a nervy opening match win against MI where DC prevailed by two wickets, DC had a shaky start to its season with just four points in the first four games. But the Capitals soon found their footing and won their next three games in fine fashion, building a healthy NRR in the process.

Skipper Meg Lanning and her opening partner Shafali Verma are DC’s highest run-getters with 263 and 300 runs respectively. On the bowling front, Jess Jonassen and Shikha Pandey have picked up 11 wickets each.
Delhi’s fielding has often emerged as the element of difference between victory and defeat.
Mumbai Indians
The inaugural champion of the WPL made it to the Playoffs for a third consecutive time and will face Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator.
Barring two losses to DC, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side was in contention for a top-place finish but lost to defending champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the last league match, causing the side to finish second.
