The Women’s Premier League 2025 Playoffs will commence on March 13 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai with home side Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants meeting in the Eliminator. The winner of the fixture will face Delhi Capitals in the final on March 15.
After finishing last in the previous seasons, the Giants have had their best-ever campaign to make the playoffs for the first time in WPL history.
As the excitement builds, here’s a list of key players to watch out for during the WPL 2025 playoffs:

Showing her all-round abilities in the WPL over the years, Matthews has once again shown her class – having scored 200+ runs and leading the Purple Cap standings with 14 wickets.
Matthews also has a stellar record in the playoffs, having taken six wickets with an economy rate of 4.1 in three matches. Her best figures, 3/5, came during the 2023 season’s final, helping her team lift the inaugural season’s trophy.

While her recent outings with the bat at the top of the order were forgettable, Amelia Kerr is a game-changer with the ball.
She has taken 14 wickets so far this season at an economy rate of 7.19. Her performance of two for 18 in the inaugural season’s final was instrumental in helping MI win its inaugural title.

In a team of technically sound batters, Bharti Fulmali is one of the few big-hitters in the group.
In eight matches in WPL, she has amassed 167 runs at an aggressive strike rate of 151.81, with her highest score being 61 – a blistering knock which however came in a losing cause against MI.
Earlier in the tournament, she also played an aggressive unbeaten knock of 40 odd runs against Delhi Capitals, despite her team’s eventual loss.

After missing last season due to an injury, 21-year-old Kashvee Gautam has taken the WPL by storm. The season debutant has taken 10 wickets so far, the second-highest Indian wicket-taker. Her economy rate of 6.29 is the best amongst the top 10 bowlers in the race for the Purple Cap.
Her best performance came against UP Warriorz, where she took three for 11 in four overs. Kashvee has captured the audience’s attention with her tricky inswingers and the ability to also hit big with the bat when needed, as seen when she opened in GG’s final league stage match against MI.

The hard-hitting Shafali Verma has been a consistent performer for Delhi Capitals, providing explosive starts that set the tone for her team’s innings.
This season, the 21-year-old Indian opener has amassed 300 runs at an impressive average of over 42 and a blistering strike rate of 157.
Once settled, Shafali can be unstoppable as seen during her unbeaten 80 against RCB this edition.
Jess Jonassen (Delhi Capitals)

With the no.6 slot not suiting her, Jonassen was bumped up the order to No. 3 to bolster the innings especially if one of the openers fell early. She has played her part in guiding her team to victories, scoring over 137 runs at a strike rate of 155.68.
When she is not contributing with match-winning knocks, she’s helping skipper Lanning with crucial breakthroughs with the ball. She’s taken 11 wickets so far and will certainly will be a tricky bowler to face for the opposition batters in the summit clash, particularly in the middle overs and the death.
