Last weekend was a significant one as the IIFA held its 25th-week celebrations in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The awards were held over two days and on Sunday, March 9, a memorable event was held at the iconic Raj Mandir cinema. Here, IIFA celebrated not just the 50th anniversary of Raj Mandir but also Sholay (1975). Sholay’s director Ramesh Sippy along with Sooraj Barjatya attended the event and were felicitated in the presence of the who’s who of Jaipur and also the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Princess Diya Kumari.

50 Years of Raj Mandir Jaipur: From Hum Aapke Hain Koun’s RECORD 525-day streak to Ram Teri Ganga Maili’s 497-day run to Dil To Pagal Hai’s 161 Days – a look at 19 longest-running hits in this iconic cinema hall
The Raj Mandir team revealed at the beginning of the event that nearly 45 films had completed more than 100 days in their cinema hall, 10 of which are from Sooraj Barjatya’s Rajshri Productions. They then played an AV listing 19 of these 45 movies.
The film that has run the longest in Raj Mandir is none other than Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit and directed by Sooraj Barjatya. It played in the theatre for a record 525 days, that is nearly 1 ½ years. Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985) came next and it ran there for a whopping 497 days. Beta (1992) surprisingly took the third spot as it was screened in Raj Mandir for 273 days. The other films that ran for more than 200 days are Maine Pyar Kiya (1989; 224 days), Naseeb (1981; 217 days), Vidhaata (1982; 210 days) and Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977; 200 plus days).
The Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Sharaabi (1984) had a 182-day run in Raj Mandir. Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivah (2006) was the last film to have such a long run probably. It ran for 168 days and surprisingly, that’s 7 days more than Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), which had a 161-day run.
The rest of the films mentioned in this video were Amar Akbar Anthony (1977; 147 days), Karz (1980; 126 days), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998; 126 days), Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978; 112 days), Chaalbaaz (1989; 112 days), Saudagar (1991; 105 days), Darr (1993; 105 days), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999; 105 days) and Don (1978; 100 plus days).
As per sources, films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), Raja Hindustani (1996), etc, also probably had a run of more than 100 plus days in Raj Mandir but these films were not listed in the AV.
