The lovely documentary The Roshans dropped on Netflix in January 2025 and has received love from all quarters. The show has been loved not just for its treatment and star value but also because it speaks about not-so-known aspects of the late Roshan, his talented sons Rakesh Roshan and Rajesh Roshan and his dashing actor grandson, Hrithik Roshan. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Rakesh Roshan a week after the release of The Roshans and also asked him about his next, the much-awaited Krrish 4.
EXCLUSIVE: Rakesh Roshan BREAKS silence on not directing Krrish 4: “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. So, it’s better I do it when I am in my senses…”
There have been reports that Krrish 4 will be directed by Karan Malhotra. We asked Rakesh Roshan how he feels that the series, which he nurtured and took the dizzying heights, will be helmed by someone else. He explained, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. So, it’s better I do it when I am in my senses, so that I can overlook the process as well and ascertain whether he’s doing it correctly or not. Tomorrow, if I am not in my senses and I’ll have to pass it on, I will not know what they are making.”
Does he feel sad about it? He immediately replied, “Not at all.” He also added, “That chance we have to take. Also, there’s no guarantee that if Rakesh Roshan directs Krrish 4, it’ll be a blockbuster. It might be the other way round as well.”
Rakesh Roshan began his career as an actor. He was last seen acting in Koi Mil Gaya (2003), which incidentally is the first film of the Krrish franchise. When asked if he’d like to act again, Rakesh Roshan said, “No. Acting is out. I don’t have the patience to sit in the studio (and wait for my take).”
And what about The Roshans Season 2? Rakesh Roshan said that there’s a possibility. “Hrithik can make it if he desires,” he said. “That’s why, we have not touched Hrithik’s journey. We focused only until Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000) though I spoke about Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish (2006). But it was more about my work in those films. And we haven’t touched Hrithik’s other films like Guzaarish (2010). I guess that can be covered if he makes a documentary on it.”
