Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowling coach James Franklin said the team will have to get ‘creative’ in dealing with the Lucknow Super Giants’ batting might.

Against Delhi Capitals in its IPL season opener, LSG, riding on Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh’s whirlwind knocks, looked on course to breach the 250-run mark before posting 209 for 8. While DC managed to chase it down in the end, the Super Giants showed a glimpse of what it has in its arsenal.

“LSG is certainly a dangerous batting unit and their top five are pretty good. We’re going to have to be pretty sharp and pretty creative with what we potentially throw at them to hopefully produce some good results for our bowling unit,” he said.

SRH’s batting muscle and affinity for high scores will be its biggest strength in this fixture. Marsh, who was with the franchise in 2020, is expecting his side to come under pressure from the home side’s batters.

“They’ve been a great team to watch last season and obviously in their first game, the way they played. We know they’re going to come hard. We know we’re going to be under pressure at some point,” the LSG opener said. “But you’ve got to welcome that pressure and take it on and it’s hopefully going to be a great match.”

When asked about LSG’s plans to deal with SRH on a flat pitch in Hyderabad, the Aussie replied with a trademark cheeky answer: “Score more runs than them.”
