Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, Ananya Panday, producers Karan Singh, Apoorva Mehta and Amritpal Singh Bindra and director Karan Singh Tyagi attended the trailer launch of their film Kesari Chapter 2 – The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh in Delhi. Towards the end of the event, Akshay shared an interesting update about Kesari 3.
Kesari Chapter 2 trailer launch: Akshay Kumar reveals that Kesari Chapter 3 is in the works: “Karan Johar and I were discussing that we should make a film on Hari Singh Nalwa”
A journalist asked if a separate chapter should be added to history books about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the case that C Sankaran Nair fought. Akshay Kumar replied, “Yes, it should be added in the books but at the same time, we have made a whole film out of it. Why don’t you show this film to the students? They’ll understand the incident completely. Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat have written everything in the book (‘The Case That Shook The Empire’, from where Kesari Chapter 2 has been adapted). They know the maximum about this case. Who’ll know more than them?”
He continued, “Now, we have to prepare for Kesari Chapter 3. Just today, Karan Johar and I were discussing that we should make a film on Hari Singh Nalwa. What do you all think?” As expected, there was a wave of excitement among the audience. Akshay added, “We have to show the true colour of Punjab to everyone.”
Hari Singh Nalwa was the commander-in-chief of the Sikh Khalsa Fauj, the army of the Sikh Empire. He was responsible for expanding the frontier of Sikh Empire beyond the Indus River right up to the mouth of the Khyber Pass.
Interestingly, authors Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat were also present at the trailer launch and the latter revealed that he is C Sankaran Nair’s grandson. Akshay praised the legendary man, which he essayed in the film saying, “It was their court and their judge. Yet, C Sankaran Nair defeated them. This is the only case in 200 years of British rule that an Indian had won. It’s a huge feat for us Indians.”
Kesari Chapter 2 – The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh releases in cinemas on April 18.
