Hrithik Roshan was thoroughly impressed by Kiran Rao’s film Laapataa Ladies and didn’t hold back his praise. While attending an event in Atlanta during his USA tour, he was asked to name his favourite film. Though he said it was impossible to pick one, he mentioned that he recently watched Laapataa Ladies and called it a “very good film.” He even asked the audience if they had seen it, before describing it as “exceptional” and “insanely good.” Kiran Rao was thrilled by the recognition and shared the video of Hrithik’s comments on her Instagram story.
Kiran Rao delighted as Hrithik Roshan calls Laapataa Ladies ‘insanely good’
At an event in Atlanta, host Sophie Choudry asked Hrithik Roshan to name his all-time favourite movie. Laughing, Hrithik replied, “That’s impossible. But I recently saw a very good film. Has anyone here seen Laapataa Ladies? Well, that was an exceptional film. I loved it. Insanely good!” His mention of the film sent the crowd into a frenzy, cheering loudly. A video of Hrithik praising the film quickly went viral on social media.
Kiran Rao later shared the clip on her Instagram stories, adding a surprised ‘Whaaa…’ sticker, tagging Hrithik, and including a heart emoji.
Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, hit theatres on March 1, 2024. The film starred Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in key roles. It earned critical acclaim and was chosen as India’s official entry for the International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars.
Set in rural India in 2001, the film follows the story of two brides, who are mistakenly swapped during a train journey. What unfolds is a gripping and emotional journey filled with twists, as their husbands set out in search of their rightful partners.
