Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, now an MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has taken a sharp dig at the Congress-led state government. Speaking at a recent political event in Mandi, she alleged receiving a highly inflated electricity bill of Rs.1 lakh for her Manali home — a property she claims she rarely occupies. Ranaut used the incident to criticize the ruling party, questioning the governance and transparency in utility billing.

Expressing her shock over the inflated electricity bill, Emergency actress Kangana Ranaut said, “This month, I received an electricity bill of Rs.1 lakh for my house in Manali, where I don’t even stay. The situation is so dire. When I read it, I feel ashamed of what’s happening.”
She added, “But we have a chance, all of you who are my brothers and sisters, you people do so much work on the ground. This is an obligation for all of us, we have to take this country, this state, on the path of progress. I would say that these are wolves, and we have to free our state from their claw.”
Kangana Ranaut formally entered politics in 2024, contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. She emerged victorious, marking a significant new chapter in her career. Since her win, Kangana has been an outspoken supporter of the BJP and has regularly voiced her opinions on state and national issues, often aligning with the party’s stance.
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Emergency, where she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Up next, she will star alongside R Madhavan in an upcoming psychological thriller. Additionally, she is set to appear in Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, further expanding her slate of diverse roles.
