Shardul Thakur came hard on the commentators who wrote off Lucknow Super Giants bowling group ahead of IPL 2025, saying that it’s easy to sit back in the studio and that they don’t see the real picture on the ground.

“A lot of times, commentators are hard on bowlers. You need to understand that cricket is moving in a fashion where we see more 200-plus scores.”

“Criticism will always be there, especially from commentators. It’s easy to sit back in the studio and comment on someone’s bowling attack, but they don’t see the real picture, what’s out there on the ground,” he added.

After conceding 103 runs in the first 10 overs, the Super Giants only conceded 77 in the final 10 to restrict Gujarat Titans to 180, a total it chased down with ease here at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

“Due to the afternoon game, the pitch conditions were dry. Once the ball got older, we tried to bring the bigger side into the game, and the bowlers executed well,” Shardul said after LSG’s win.

Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach Parthiv Patel also agreed that the pitch became tough to bat after the first 10 overs.

“No one got out playing the wrong shot. Once the ball got old, the pitch was slow as well, so it wasn’t easy. The batting became tough as the game progressed; we saw that in LSG’s innings as well,” Pathiv said.
