In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh firmly stated that Salman Khan’s career isn’t finished despite the fate of Sikandar. “I saw a couple of videos of YouTubers where they said that Salman Khan’s career is finished. Not true! Absolutely not true! I firmly believe that he will make a terrific comeback. He needs to take a break. It is not that this is happening only to Salman Khan,” he said.

Adarsh cited examples of other superstars from the past who made a comeback after a string of flops. “Dilip Kumar sahab took a break of almost four years,” he said. “Then he came up with a film called Kranti with Manoj Kumar. I remember standing in a long queue outside New Talkies in Bandra. During the half way mark, we got to know that the show is houseful. And I am talking about its fourth week! Dilip Kumar made a terrific comeback with that film. Cut to Amitabh Bachchan. When he saw that his films Laal Baadshah and Mrityudaata didn’t do well, he took a break and made a comeback with Mohabbatein.”
Adarsh then cited the example of Shah Rukh Khan, who took a break after a series of non-starrers at the box office like Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero. “He then made such a terrific comeback with Pathaan and Jawan,” he said. “Even today he looks so fit. What to say about the enthusiasm he showed in these two films!”
Speaking on what Salman should do now, Adarsh said, “He should take a break, at least for 6-7 months. I mean, who am I to even tell him this? But this is just a request. I have reviewed all his films from Biwi Ho To Aisi to Sikandar. Salman’s choice in the earlier era was good. His choices in recent years have also been good. He did Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ek Tha Tiger. These are such amazing films. And he has given such fine performances. But today when you see the same actor in Sikandar, you feel something is not right. Maybe he is going through something. I think the best person to answer this is Salman himself.”
Adarsh believes that one shouldn’t write off superstars who have had massive fan following for decades. “We shouldn’t write off Salman, Shah Rukh, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar or Ajay Devgn,” he said. “These are superstars from the 90s. Considering the kind of love they have got in these 30 odd years, it can’t fade out through 1-2 films. We are so quick in writing people’s obituaries after just one film of theirs doesn’t do well.”
