In a heartfelt conversation that pulls back the curtain on life after public marriages, Seema Sajdeh and Avantika Malik came together for the debut episode of The Healing Circle, a new emotional wellness series hosted by Janice Sequeira and powered by Coto. The episode marked a rare moment of honesty as both women discussed the emotional toll of their divorces – Seema from actor Sohail Khan, and Avantika from actor Imran Khan – and how support systems played a key role in their healing.
Seema Sajdeh and Avantika Malik discuss female friendships and how safe spaces matter
Known for her appearances on Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, Seema Sajdeh candidly spoke about the strength she found in her inner circle. “I think I’m blessed to have an amazing band of women around me – my mom, my sister… even my brother has been a huge support. But truly, I wouldn’t have gotten through this without the women in my life. There’s just no way,” she shared during the conversation.
She went on to highlight the significance of accessible emotional support in a country where therapy may not always be an option. “We are privileged. People can’t always afford therapy. You need reliable communities and support groups like Coto. You need a place for women to come and pour their hearts out. It’s when you have those cathartic conversations that heal you,” she added.
Echoing similar sentiments, Avantika Malik reflected on how family became her emotional anchor during her separation. Both women acknowledged that while personal resilience matters, it is the presence of a non-judgmental, empathetic community that truly makes recovery possible.
Adding an expert lens to the conversation was Dr. Ayushi Gajghate, psychologist and holistic healer with Coto. She emphasised the need for open dialogue, especially in the Indian context where discussions around mental health and trauma are often silenced. “The best thing that happens on Coto is that women openly talk about their problems and trauma. What I love is that everyone is supporting and giving hope to that person, even if they don’t know them, without being judged,” she said. Dr. Gajghate also noted how anonymity on platforms like Coto enables users to speak more freely.
The conversation not only brought attention to the emotional complexities of separation but also underscored the importance of safe, inclusive spaces where people can speak without fear. Meanwhile, coming to The Healing Circle, it airs exclusively on Janice Sequeira’s YouTube channel, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday and Friday.
