Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul became the fastest player to reach 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League during the match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Rahul reached the landmark in his 130th innings, overtaking David Warner’s previously held record of scoring 5000 runs in 135 innings.
He is now only the eighth batter to cross the 5000-run mark in IPL, joining the elite list led by Virat Kohli who has scored 8326 runs.
The wicketkeeper-batter needed 51 runs to breach the milestone before today. During his innings, he surpassed Chris Gayle (4965) in the all-time run scorers list of IPL.
