Strong Screen Presence for Raid 2

Kumar dismissed concerns about competition, highlighting Raid 2’s robust distribution strategy. “I don’t think these films will pose any competition for us. Our film Raid 2 is getting about 4000 screens all across the country. We’re getting the best showcasing. So, I don’t think we’re facing any threat,” he said. He noted that only major franchises like Pushpa have historically impacted the Hindi-speaking belt, adding, “Barring the A++ films like the franchise ones such as Pushpa, till date, there’s no parameter to check if these films have worked in the northern belt.”

A High-Stakes Sequel

Raid 2, releasing seven years after the original, sees Ajay Devgn reprise his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, facing off against Riteish Deshmukh’s cunning politician, Dadabhai. The film promises a gripping narrative of corruption and power, with advance bookings already underway. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, it is produced by Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar under T-Series and Panorama Studios.

Industry Insights on Box Office Trends

Kumar also reflected on the Hindi film industry’s current state, stating the need for diverse storytelling. “Audiences always observe, pick and watch good content. A film may have a good actor who has a box office pull, but it’s ultimately the story that should work,” he said. He believes that encouraging a wider range of genres is crucial for the industry’s long-term survival, especially amidst Bollywood’s inconsistent box office performance.
