Punjab Kings is set to announce replacements for Glenn Maxwell and Lockie Ferguson later this week, head coach Ricky Ponting confirmed on Wednesday.

Maxwell fractured his finger a couple of days ago, while Ferguson was ‘indefinitely’ ruled out after he hobbled off the field during the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 12.

“We will be signing some replacements at some stage,” Ponting said after Punjab defeated Chennai Super Kings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

“With the PSL (Pakistan Super League) happening at the same time, there’s not a lot of high-quality replacements out there, to be honest. So we’ve just been patient,” the PBKS head coach said.

“We’re having a look around the Indian talent as well and looking at what roles we might be able to fill. We’ll take a couple of guys to Dharamsala.

“We had a couple of guys who trained with us yesterday, they’ll come to Dharamsala. We’ll have a closer look at them, and if they’re good enough, they might find themselves with a Punjab contract going forward,” Ponting said.
