Chennai Super Kings’ bowling coach Eric Simons acknowledged that his team needs to work on their batting accuracy after their loss to Punjab Kings knocked them out of the playoff race.

“We have been good at taking wickets, but as a team in our batting, there are a few areas where we need to find and to be more accurate around and what we need to do,” Simons said. “It’s all about being more accurate.”

CSK’s batting lineup struggled to post a competitive total, managing 190 runs before being bowled out by PBKS bowlers, led by Yuzvendra Chahal’s four-wicket haul, including a hat-trick. Despite a valiant effort from Sam Curran, who scored 88 off 47 balls, CSK’s batting unit couldn’t sustain momentum.

PBKS chased down the target with two balls to spare, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s 72 off 41 balls and Prabhsimran Singh’s 54 off 36 balls. The win moved PBKS up to second in the table with 13 points, while CSK’s playoff hopes were dashed, leaving them in 10th place with just four points.
