Suresh Raina, former India and Chennai Super Kings batter, during a conversation with Aakash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar on air, may have hinted he has been approached to take up the role of batting coach at his former Indian Premier League side.

Sridharan Sriram, CSK’s assistant bowling coach, remained tight-lipped when prodded for an update on the same at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Sunday.

“I don’t know. I have to ask him if he said that,” Sriram said during the post-match press conference of the Super Kings’ match against Gujarat Titans.

Former Australia cricketer Michael Hussey is currently holding the position in question.

All of CSK’s injury replacements in 2025—Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, and Dewald Brevis—have impressed with the bat. But these changes, Sriram remarks, don’t indicate CSK did poorly on the auction table.

“These are forced changes. There were injuries that happened, and we had to replace. Fortunately for us, the people who replaced, came in and did well. I won’t go back and dig too deep into it, saying we made mistakes at the auction table,” Sriram added.

Vikram Solanki, the Titans’ director of cricket, applauded Prasidh Krishna’s economical spell despite the 83-run loss. He said: “The way Prasidh bowled was exceptional. In a 230 chase to concede only 22 was exceptional.”

CSK’s Noor Ahmad, with 24 wickets, has snatched the Purple Cap from Prasidh. The pacer is a scalp short of equalling the mark.
