South Africa’s Aiden Markram registered the highest score by a batter in a tournament final against Australia, during the World Test Championships final in Lord’s on Saturday.

Markram broke the record previously held by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 134 against the Aussies in 1998 in the summit clash of the Sharjah Cup.

The South African tallied 136 in the WTC final, powering the Proteas in their quest for a first ICC title in 27 years.
