Amidst the growing trend of digital premieres, Aamir Khan’s decision to bring Sitaare Zameen Par solely to cinemas was a deliberate one, driven by his passion for cinema and his belief in the power of community-driven storytelling. The superstar was determined to offer audiences a theatrical experience that could be shared, enjoyed, and remembered collectively.
The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) publicly lauded Aamir Khan’s choice to prioritize cinemas for the film’s release. In response, Aamir Khan Productions took to social media to express their gratitude, sharing a note from MAI that appreciated this bold step. The MAI commended Aamir Khan for reinforcing the significance of theatres as the primary platform for immersive storytelling. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, known for his critically acclaimed film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Sitaare Zameen Par is a heartfelt sports comedy-drama that focuses on inclusivity and human connection. The film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles and introduces ten rising stars: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The film’s music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and a screenplay by Divy Nidhi Sharma. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, along with Ravi Bhagchandka, Sitaare Zameen Par was released in theatres on June 20, 2025.
