Karisma Kapoor has extended her heartfelt gratitude to friends, family, and well-wishers following the passing of her ex-husband, industrialist Sunjay Kapur. Taking to Instagram, the actress wrote, “Thank you everyone for your warm wishes and support,” and added a folded hands as well as heart emoji, in a brief yet meaningful post that acknowledges the outpouring of support she has received in recent days.

Karisma’s message comes after she was seen attending Sunjay Kapur’s funeral in New Delhi on Thursday, June 19. A video from the crematorium surfaced online, capturing a visibly sombre Karisma paying her final respects. She was dressed in a traditional white salwar suit, in line with customary funeral attire. Karisma was accompanied by her children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan, as they came together to bid farewell to their father.
Karisma’s family also stood by her side during this difficult time. Her sister Kareena Kapoor Khan and brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan travelled to Delhi to offer their support to Karisma and her children.
Sunjay Kapur, 52, passed away earlier this month in England after suffering a fatal heart attack during a polo match. His sudden death left many in shock. Sunjay was a well-known industrialist and was previously married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani before they separated in 2003. That same year, he married Karisma Kapoor.
Karisma and Sunjay’s marriage lasted for more than a decade, during which they welcomed their two children, Samaira and Kiaan. However, the relationship faced several challenges over the years, eventually leading to their divorce in 2016.
Despite their separation, Karisma’s presence at the funeral and her public acknowledgment of the loss reflect the importance of family and shared history. Her gratitude post has been met with further messages of condolence and support from fans and the film industry alike.
As Karisma and her family continue to navigate this personal loss, her dignified response and focus on her children’s well-being remain at the forefront.
