A second half goal by Alexis Vega followed by a late own goal by Abdullah Madu saw defending champion Mexico ease past Saudi Arabia into the semifinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday.
It was an utterly dominant performance by the record Gold Cup winner, which did not allow the Saudis to have a single shot on target. Meanwhile, the Mexicans took 14 shots to Saudi’s one, with five of them on target.
Mexico will face Honduras in the semis, which beat Panama to enter the final four for the first time since 2013.
