India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Tests Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.
Wishes poured in for the 38-year-old who informed of his decision after conclusion of the third Test between India and Australia in Brisbane. India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that Ashwin will be returning home.
“I do not want to make this about myself. This is my last day as an international cricketer,” Ashwin said at the post-match press conference in Brisbane.
Ashwin, who has 537 wickets in the longest format, last played during the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide.
