Former Andhra Ranji cricketer Vincent Vinay Kumar is “pleased” with the performance of the United States of America team which won the tri-series in Oman also featuring Namibia.

Vincent, who was the head coach of the team which trained incidentally in Anand (Gujarat) before the tri-series (one-day) under his mentorship, won three out of the four matches to emerge winners.

Team USA also won the bilateral T-20 series against Oman winning the three-match series 3-0.

“It has been a terrific team effort and especially the batters put up a wonderful performance on turning tracks and the camp in Gujarat really helped the players a lot,” Vincent said in a chat with Sportstar on return to his hometown.

“We focussed more on scoring options for spinners and some dominating shots to ease the pressure. Oman had five spinners playing all the matches and we dominated all of them and won the games,” he explained.

“Yes, it was great to see some quality batting and my emphasis was more on trusting their skills and cutting down risky shots on turning tracks and staying positive throughout . Few areas of concern were discussed and chalked out how to go about on such tracks,” Vincent said.

“In bowling too, we had experienced bowlers who implemented bowling plans and kept the pressure on to pick up wickets at regular intervals. Since the wickets were turning more we had to start bowling with spinners and rested medium pacers which turned out to be a record as no medium pacer bowled in both the team,” he said.

“These results would not have been possible but for the all out support of the US Cricket , selectors and support staff,” he added.

“We hope to continue to do well in all our future assignments as the team has a perfect balance and the right attitude to raise the bar under pressure,” Vincent concluded.
