Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah made his long-awaited injury comeback after he was picked in the Mumbai Indians Playing XI for the IPL 2025 encounter against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
The 31-year-old has been missing from action since he suffered a back problem during the final Test of India’s series defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he didn’t bowl in the second innings.
Bumrah also missed India’s victorious ICC Champions Trophy campaign as the Rohit Sharma-led side won the trophy after an eight-year wait, bouncing back from a defeat against Pakistan in the 2017 final.
Mumbai Indians also missed his services during the team’s first four encounters in the season as the pacer waited for clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to resume bowling.
Bumrah has picked 165 wickets in 133 encounters so far for the Mumbai Indians in his IPL career, finishing as the team’s leading-wicket taker during three title-winning campaigns (2017, 2019 and 2020).
