Chennai Super Kings’ batter Devon Conway was retired out during the side’s 200-run chase against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Conway was sent back to the pavilion in the 18th over when he was unbeaten on 69 runs off 49 deliveries. He becomes just the fifth batter to be dismissed in this way across all editions of the IPL.
The New Zealander is the second batter to be retired out this season. Mumbai Indians’ Tilak Varma was the first to removed in this fashion against Lucknow Super Giants.
R. Ashwin of Rajasthan Royals, Atharva Taide of Punjab Kings, and B. Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans are others to fall this way.
