T20 Mumbai League: Mhatre, Raghuvanshi among 280 players in auction pool

Youngsters Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Musheer Khan will be in focus when around 280 players go under the hammer in the T20 Mumbai League auction on Wednesday.

The franchise league, organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association, returns after six years and with a pool of young and seasoned campaigners, the franchises will be hoping to pick the suitable players for their respective teams.

Along with Mhatre and Raghuvanshi, who are currently featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL), seasoned campaigners like Tanush Kotian, Siddhesh Lad and Shams Mulani will also be up for grabs.

The teams have already added icon players to their respective squads and for the auction, the player pool has been strategically divided into three categories – senior player, which includes those who feature in first-class, List A, or T20 matches; emerging player, comprising cricketers who have represented Mumbai at the U-23 or U-19 level in the past three years, and development player, which features talented local and club-level players.

The base prices are set at Rs. five lakh for senior players, Rs. three lakh for emerging players and Rs. two lakh for development players.

Teams are required to include four senior players and at least five emerging players, and as many development players in their final squad of a minimum of 18 members.

Each team is required to spend a minimum of Rs. 80 lakh from their purse of Rs. 1 crore for the season.
