Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori revealed on Sunday that SRH opener Travis Head contracted Covid-19 and will be coming to India on Monday morning, hours before the side’s Indian Premier League match against Lucknow Super Giants.
“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told reporters in the press conference.
The Australian batter has been having an underwhelming season after the usually powerful southpaw has managed to accumulate just 281 runs so far.
Already out of Playoffs contention, SRH has three matches left to play in IPL 2025. As of now, last year’s runner-up is placed eighth on the points table after 11 matches.
The tournament is resuming a little over a week since it was suspended due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. Competition resumed on May 17 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosting Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the match was washed out.
