The three-match women’s One-Day International series between India and Australia, scheduled in Chennai on September 14, 17 and 20, is set to be moved out of the city.

It is understood that the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has expressed its inability to host the fixtures at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (MAC) since the outfield at the venue will be relaid.

The work is part of preparations for next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

The MAC Stadium last hosted a Women’s ODI 17 years ago, when Australia beat New Zealand by six wickets, in the final of the quadrangular series on March 5, 2007.

However, it has been a venue for Women’s Tests and T20Is since, with India hosting South Africa in one red-ball and white-ball match each, winning both by 10 wickets.

The new venue for the Australia series is yet to be finalised.
