Kajol, famous for her outspoken nature and impressive acting, recently spoke candidly about her thoughts on love, her relationship with Shah Rukh Khan, her co-star from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), and her life with husband Ajay Devgn. In the interview, she revealed personal perspectives on her current view of love, explained why a sequel to DDLJ isn’t necessary, and discussed how she and Shah Rukh have stayed connected through different stages of their lives.
Kajol firmly rules out Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge sequel; says, “It’s done and dusted”
When asked whether she still believes in the kind of romance shown in DDLJ, she acknowledged that this type of love was fitting for that era and told Instant Bollywood, “Uss picture ke liye woh achchha tha.”
Regarding what love means to her today, she expressed a more profound and practical view, saying, “Pyaar ek samajh hai. Ek adat hai, ek adat ban jati hai, ek achchhi adat ban jati hai. It’s a way of life. It’s an understanding. It’s a lovely compromise, and sometimes being kind is more important than risking everything.”
Kajol expressed a firm stance on the idea of a DDLJ sequel, stating, “DDLJ part 2 banni nahi chahiye. Woh train mein chali gayi and that’s the end of it. Uske baad pata nahi kaun kitne baje uth rahe, kiske kitne bacche hue hai, we don’t discuss the marriage after that. It’s done and dusted.”
Reflecting on her enduring friendship with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol spoke about their collaborations over different phases of life. “We worked on so many films together during various stages of my life. I did four movies before I got married, one after Nysa was born, and another in between. So, we’ve been friends for a very long time, through his journey of getting married, having children, growing up, and mine as well…”
Kajol also shared heartfelt thoughts about her husband, actor and filmmaker Ajay Devgn. She admitted that life with such a passionate actor can sometimes be tough. The actress said, “Sometimes I feel relieved that there’s a 40-day outdoor shoot, and other times I wish he were here. It’s a lifestyle, and you get used to it. He’s very passionate — he wouldn’t be this way if he didn’t make films.”
On the work front, Kajol’s next project is the horror movie, Maa.
