India opener Smriti Mandhana became the second Indian to score a century in women’s T20I during India’s first T20I match against England at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
She reached her maiden T20I ton in 51 balls, which included 14 fours and three sixes. The southpaw struck a four off Lauren Bell in the 16th over to achieve the feat.
So far, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was the only player from the country to be a centurion after she’d notched up a 51-ball 103 which she scored against New Zealand in 2018 during the T20 World Cup.
Smriti, standing in as the side’s skipper after Harmanpreet missed out due to a head injury, also became the first Indian woman to score a century in all the three formats of the game.
